BNCC
The Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC) is a tri-services volunteer reserve force comprising the Army, Navy and Air Force for school, college and university students. Students are trained by military staffs and personnel all through the cadetship. BNCC remains high value on the public-military relationship in the society. BNCC cadets work together with Army, Navy, Air Force as well as Civil Defense authority in national integrity and emergencies.

Red Circles- The Outer Red Circle on the formation sign symbolizes the blood of our martyrs of our great Liberation War.
Black Circle- Black Inner Circle symbolizes the ink, the source of knowledge. Knowledge & Discipline- The motto of BNCC placed over the black circle.
Golden Circle- Golden Circle represents the Shonar Bangla.
Pyramid- The Pyramid in centre symbolizes with the struggles of life, going up is always difficult and challenging. Cadets should take lesson out of it.
Colors of Pyramid- The tri coloured Pyramid represents the Army, Navy and Air which trains and grooms the BNCC cadets for future leadership.
The Volunteers- The base and the basic of human are to serve as volunteer without any fear or favour . As such the sprit of BNCC is ‘The Volunteers’.

Evolution of BNCC
- UCC In 1920 – the British govt formed University Cadet Corps (UCC) in various universities.
- UTC In 1923 – UCC was renamed as University Training Corps (UTC)
- 12 Dhaka company In 1928- A UTC Company was raised at Dhaka University as 12 Dhaka Company.
- UOTC In 1950 – In 1950 UTC was renamed as UOTC or University Officer Training Corps.
- JCC In 1966 – Programme was extended to few colleges and named as Junior Cadet Corps or JCC
- BCC- Cadet Corps program was further extended to schools as Bangladesh Cadet Corps (BCC).
- BNCC in 1979- Finally UTC, UOTC, JCC, and BCC were merged together and formed as Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC).
History of BNCC
After the establishment of Dhaka University (1921), the Corps initiated its activities under the provisions of the Indian Territorial Forces Act, 1923. Captain E. Groom was the first adjutant of the Corps, he imparted military training to 100 students and 16 teachers in November 1927. Later University Training Corps was officially founded in June 1928; in 1943, the name of the Corps was changed to University Officers Training Corps (UOTC). The members of this Corps took part in the liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971, after independence, Bangladesh Cadet Corps comprising college students, and Junior Cadet Corps comprising junior students were formed in addition to University Officers Training Corps. On 23 March 1979, University Officers Training Corps, Bangladesh Cadet Corps, and Junior Cadet Corps were all merged to Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC). The Training Activities of BNCC Cadets are subdivided into Army, Navy, and Air Wing. At present, its headquarters is located in Sector 6, Uttara Model Town, Dhaka-1230. There are three types of Cadets in BNCC and divided under two broad heads namely, Senior Division and Junior Division cadets. Senior division again has two categories of female and male cadets of various levels of education, the Bangladesh Government Cabinet approved a proposal to bring BNCC under a legal framework and department. The proposal was titled Bangladesh National Cadet Corps Act-2016, the separate department would be under the Ministry of Defense. Bangladesh National Cadet Corps has Youth Exchange Programme (YEP) with India, Singapore, Nepal, Maldives, and Singapore. Every year total of 56 BNCC Cadets get the opportunity to visit those Countries under YEP. An equal number of foreign cadets also visit Bangladesh to join our Independence Day Celebration Programmes. The benefits of this program have been widely acknowledged. By these visits, cadet knows each others’ culture, heritage and which help to develop a strong bond between them.
Objective of BNCC
Train the students of Schools, Colleges and Universities in order to make good citizens who can render their services to the nation as organized and disciplined volunteers during peace and war.
Task and Responsibilities
Task and responsibilities of the BNCC Cadet.
- To prepare to serve the nation during national emergency.
- To render services to the distress citizens and the nation during man-made and natural disasters.
- To act as an aid to the Armed Forces to safe guard the national integrity.
- To undertake any responsibilities given by the government.
TRAINING
INSTITUTIONAL TRAINING
- TWO DAYS (4 PERIODS) IN A WEEK CONDUCTED AT PLATOONS.
- TRAINING ACTIVITIES: CLASSES RELATED TO SELF-DEVELOPMENT ALONG WITH BASIC MILITARY DISCIPLINE.
BATTALION CAMPING
- ORGANIZED AT BATTALION LEVEL- ONCE IN A YEAR.
- TRAINING ACTIVITIES:CLASSES RELATED TO SELF-DEVELOPMENT ALONG WITH PRACTICAL KNOWLEDGE ON BASIC MILITARY CAMPING.
REGIMENTAL CAMPING
- ORGANIZED AT REGIMENT LEVEL WITH ALL BATTALIONS- ONCE IN A YEAR.
- TRAINING ACTIVITIES: CLASSES RELATED TO SELF-DEVELOPMENT ALONG WITH PRACTICAL KNOWLEDGE ON BASIC MILITARY CAMPING. IN ADDITION NUMBER OF COMPETITIONS ON GAMES, SPORTS& CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES ARE HELD.
CENTRAL CAMPING
- ORGANIZED BY HQ BNCC WITH ALL REGIMENTS- ONCE IN A YEAR.
- TRAINING ACTIVITIES: IN ADDITION TO ABOVE MENTIONED EVENTS, AWARENESS ON FIREFIGHTING, ANTI-DRUG & OTHER SOCIAL MOVEMENTS ARE BUILT AMONG CADETS.

BNCC Army Wing comprising Five Regiments
RAMNA REGIMENT:
After the formation of Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC) on 23 March 1979 The Ramna Regiment was raised and named after Ramna which was one of the historical places of Dhaka. To bring Dynamism in BNCC Ramna Regiment started its activities under five Battalions with the cadets of different Institutions of Dhaka, Munshiganj, Gazipur, Mymensingh, Jamalpur, Sherpur, Netrokona, Narayanganj, Kishorgong. At present there are total 110 Educational Institutions with 152 Platoons and 5659 Cadets under Ramna Regiment.
MAINAMATI REGIMENT:
Mainamati Regiment was raised in 1979. To extend the activities of BNCC, Mainamati Regiment started its curricula with the Cadets of different Institutions of Cumilla, Sylhet, Sunamganj, Hobiganj and Moulovibazar. At present there are 100 Educational Institutions with 122 platoons and 3608 Cadets under this Regiment.
KARNAPHULI REGIMENT:
Karnaphuli Regiment was raised on 28th November 1979. From the very beginning Karnaphuli Regiment started its activities with the cadets of different Institutions of Chiattagram and Cox’s Bazar districts. At present there are 59 Education Institutions with 86 platoons and 3413 Cadets under this regiment.
MAHASTHAN REGIMENT:
Mahasthan Regiment was raised on 30th march 1979 and named after the name of Mahasthan garh, a historical place of Bogra. To accelerate the expansion of BNCC, Mahasthan Regiment started its activities with the Cadets of different Institutions of Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogra, Rangpur, Dinajpur, Sirajgonj, Natore and Lalmonirhat districts with its five Battalions. At present there are 102 Education Institutions with 130 platoons and 4086 Cadets under this regiment.
SUNDARBAN REGIMENT:
Sundarban Regiment started its activities from the very beginning of the institution of BNCC in 1979. SUNDARBAN REGIMENT was named after the name of world’s largest mangrove forest Sundarban. From the very beginning of raising Sundarban Regiment started its activities for the expansion of BNCC with the Cadets of different Institutions of Khulna, Bagerhat, Shatkhira, Jessore, Narail, Magura, Chuadanga, Meherpur, Kushtia, Faridpur, Rajbari, Gopalgonj, Shariatpur, Madaripur.Barisal, Pirojpur, Bhola, Patuakhali, Borguna and Jhalokhathi. At Prsent there are 99 Education Institution with 114 Platoons and 2201 Cadets under this Regiment.
NAVAL WING
After the formation of Bangladesh National Cadet Corps on 23th March 1979, the Naval Wing was raised. The Naval wing started its activities with the Cadets of different Institutions of Dhaka, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Khulna district, Rajshahi, Kustia, Barisal, Patuakhali and Bangura districts. It is Organized into three Flotillas. Under Dhaka Flotilla there are 11 Educational Institutions with 16 Platoons and 868 cadets ; under Chattagram Flotilla there are 08 Educational Institutions and 15 Platoons with 470 cadets ; under Khulna Flotilla there are 16 Educational Intuitions and 25 Platoons with 824 cadets .
AIR WING
Air wing was raised after the formation of BNCC on 23th March 1979. Air wing started its activities since its raising with the Cadets of different Institutions of Dhaka, Cumilla, Sylhet, Chattagram, Rajshahi, Kustia and Jeshore District. It is organized into three Squadrons. Under Dhaka Squadron there are 13 Institutions , 17 Flights with 1153 Cadets. Under Chattagram Squadron there are 05 Institutions, 07 Platoons with 641 Cadets. Under Jeshore Squadron there are 09 Institutions , 09 platoons with 1000 Cadets.

BNCC Regiment.
At present BNCC is organized in mainly five different administrative divisions and in some cases, part of a division. The functional units (Battalion)/subunits (Company/ Platoons) of each administrative divisions form a regiment of BNCC.

Platoon, Company and Battalion.
- The basic functional sub-units of schools, colleges and universities having minimum 31 cadets are called platoon.
- The basic functional sub-units having minimum three platoons are called Company (for Army Wing) /Squadron (for Air Wing) /Flotilla (for Navy Wing).
- The functional units under a regiment is called Battalion. A Battalion consists of five company and there are five Battalion under a Regiment.

Command Structure
HQ BNCC & DG BNCC.
HQ BNCC is the head office of BNCC located at Uttara, Dhaka. Training, administration and all other functions of BNCC are controlled and coordinated from the HQ of BNCC.
DG BNCC.
Director General (DG) BNCC is a military officer who is the chief of the force (BNCC).
REGIMENT COMMANDER.
Regiment Commander is a military officer who commands 5 Battalions under him.
COMPANY COMMANDER
Company commander is a BNCC Commissioned officer who commands 3 platoons under him. BNCC Commission Officers are called BNCCO or Bangladesh National Cadet Corps Officer.
PLATOON COMMANDER
He is the officer in charge of a platoon appointed amongst the teaching staffs of the educational institutions where the BNCC platoon exists. BNCC Platoon Commanders are called PUO (Professor Under Officer) or TUO (Teacher Under Officer).
PUO/TUO
PUO (Professor Under Officers) or TUO (Teacher Under Officer) are selected amongst the teaching staff of a particular institution by the head of that institutions where a BNCC platoon exists. They (PUOs/TUOs) are appointed as Platoon Commander by DG BNCC.
BNCCO
BNCCO or Bangladesh National Cadet Corps Officers are commissioned by a board of officers of HQ’s BNCC headed by DG BNCC. Their commission are finally approved by the govt. Usually the platoon commanders (PUO’s) who have completed the pre commission training from Bangladesh Military Academy or a Military Unit are eligible for such commission. They are appointed as Company Commander up to Battalion Commander by DG BNCC.
CUO
CUO or Cadet Under Officers are selected amongst the cadets of a particular Company by the Regiment with law & condition of BNCC.
CADET SGT
Cadet SGT or Cadet Sergeants is selected amongst the cadets of a particular Platoon by the Battalion with law & condition of BNCC.
CADET CPL
Cadet CPL or Cadet Corporals are selected amongst the cadets of a particular Platoon by the Battalion with law & condition of BNCC.
CADET LCPL
Cadet LCPL or Cadet Lance Corporal are selected amongst the cadets of a particular Platoon by the Battalion with law & condition of BNCC.
CADET
Cadets are selected amongst the students of a particular School, College, and University by the Battalion with law & condition of BNCC.
ELLIGIBILITY AND BENEFIT OF A BNCC CADET
CADET IN BNCC.
The students enrolled under the BNCC Act 2016 are called cadets. Cadets are basically the students of the school, college and universities where the BNCC activities exist. Cadets are the main functional force of BNCC, are trained and prepared them to work voluntarily for the service of the nation.
ELIGIBILITY:
Student of College, University can apply as a senior division cadet from the educational institutions where the BNCC platoon exists & he/she is to be the student of that educational institution.
Student of High School can apply as a junior division cadet from the educational institutions where the BNCC platoon exists & he/she is to be the student of that educational institution.

REQUIREMENTS OF CADETSHIP CERTIFICATE
- A camping in two years’ time.
- 70% attendance in Institutional training.
